High-Waisted Period Panties

High-waisted period panties sit above the belly button and extend the absorbent area further up the front and down the lower back. It’s the cut that keeps you protected the longest — the one you reach for at night and on days 1 and 2.

At Louloucup, we have eight high-waisted styles with 30 to 60 ml absorbency, in lace or organic cotton, from XXS to 5XL.

Why high-waisted cuts protect better

Because the absorbent area follows the cut. On a classic panty, the lining stops at the crotch. On a high-waisted style, it comes up higher at the front and back — exactly where leaks happen when you’re lying down or sitting for several hours.

  • Lying down, you’re covered. At night, your flow moves toward your lower back. A high-waisted panty follows that movement; a classic cut doesn’t.
  • The wide waistband doesn’t roll. It stays in place when you move, without digging in or creating bulges under jeans.
  • That bloated first-day belly feels better supported. A high waist hugs your tummy instead of squeezing it.

Which high-waisted style for which flow?

A heavy flow is more than 50 ml per cycle. If you use more than 4 products a day on your heaviest days, go straight for Clara or Mathilde, which absorb 60 ml — about the equivalent of 5 tampons.

Margot30 mlMediumOrganic cotton, classic cut€28.90
Lily30 mlMediumOrganic cotton, colorful trims€28.90
Ella30 mlMediumCotton and tulle€28.90

The smart move: two 60 ml styles for days 1 and 2, and two 30 ml styles for the rest of your cycle.

Is a high-waisted panty really better for night?

Yes, and it’s the only cut we recommend for sleeping. A night lasts 7 to 9 hours with no chance to change, and in that time your flow naturally moves toward your lower back.

With 60 ml absorbency, Clara and Mathilde cover a full night even on a very heavy flow. For a medium flow, Margot and Lily are more than enough. If your periods are regularly very heavy, have a look at our heavy flow collection.

High-waisted and plus sizes: up to 5XL

Our high-waisted styles are available from XXS to 5XL. They’re not just scaled-up standard sizes: the patterns are reworked so the waistband stays put without digging in, and the absorbent area stays centered whatever your body shape.

It’s our most requested cut in plus sizes because it supports without leaving marks at the waist. See the full plus-size collection.

Materials and certifications

All our high-waisted period panties are certified OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Class II (certificate no. 2026OK1834). The inner layer against your skin is made from certified organic cotton, and our fabrics are tested PFAS-free by an independent lab.

No silver nanoparticles are used in the absorbent area.

How many high-waisted panties do you need?

Plan on 4 to 5 panties to cover a full cycle without having to do laundry every night. Air-drying takes 24 to 48 hours, so one single panty is never enough.

Our 5-panty bundle covers your whole cycle, from medium to very heavy flow, at a much lower price than buying individually.

Frequently asked questions

Can you see high-waisted period panties under clothes?

No, except under very tight and very thin clothing. The waistband comes up above the belly button, so it’s covered by high-waisted pants or a skirt. Under a flowy dress or regular jeans, nothing shows.

How much do high-waisted period panties absorb?

Our high-waisted styles absorb 30 ml (Margot, Lily) or 60 ml (Clara, Mathilde). For reference, a regular tampon holds about 10 to 12 ml, and a flow is considered heavy above 50 ml per cycle.

How do you wash high-waisted period panties?

Rinse in cold water right after taking them off, until the water runs clear. Then machine-wash at 30 °C / 86 °F, without fabric softener or bleach, and air-dry. Never tumble dry: heat damages the waterproof membrane.

High-waisted or shorty: which should I choose?

High-waisted styles come up higher on the tummy and lower back; shorties come down lower on the thighs. For night and very heavy flows, high-waisted is safer. For sports or under fitted clothing, shorties move around less.

Can you wear a high-waisted panty with a cup?

Yes, and we actually recommend it for your first few cycles. The panty acts as backup while you’re learning to position your cup. A 30 ml style is enough in that case.

How long can you keep high-waisted period panties on?

Up to 12 hours for a medium flow, 8 hours for a very heavy flow. With proper care, a pair will last 5 to 7 years.
