To find your cup size, you need to ask yourself the right questions

To choose the right size menstrual cup, you need to ask yourself a few questions.
Think about your menstrual flow. Would you describe it as light, medium, heavy or very heavy?

As for your pelvic floor, do you think it’s toned, muscular? If you’ve given birth, was it vaginal? Do you do intense physical or sports activities?

These questions will help you select the cup that’s best suited to each woman and girl. On top of that, this period product is a great way to learn more about your intimate health and the intensity of your periods.

Size and flexibility—tell them apart, choose well, and find your way!

Size S in pink? Size M in blue? Size S in blue? Size M in pink? How do you pick the right Loulou? Don’t worry, it’s actually quite easy to figure out.

Louloucup offers its two cup models, the pink and the turquoise, in two different sizes: size S and size M.

Small or medium menstrual cup

Size S is especially suited to girls and women with a light to medium flow. The Loulou small menstrual cup is slightly smaller and therefore holds less blood than the medium.

Size M is better for girls and women with a medium to heavy flow. The Loulou medium menstrual cup corresponds to a standard, universal size.

However, be careful: the nature of your menstrual flow isn’t the only factor to consider when choosing your cup. You mustn’t forget your anatomy.

Size S is ideal for young women with a strong pelvic floor, while size M will be perfect for women whose pelvic floor is less toned, more relaxed.

Pink or blue menstrual cup

We want to draw your attention to how important flexibility is when choosing your cup; it’s just as important as size. At Loulou, our cups come in two flexibility levels, represented by two colours: turquoise or pink.

The turquoise cup is very soft. It’s perfect for women and girls with a particularly sensitive vagina.

The pink cup is slightly firmer. It’s ideal for sporty women, for example. Swimmers will definitely agree!

We help you make the right choice

Here’s what we recommend:

  • a turquoise size S cup for girls, teenagers and young women who haven’t given birth vaginally.
  • a pink size M cup for sporty women or women who have given birth vaginally, as well as for women and girls with a heavy or very heavy menstrual flow.
  • a turquoise size S cup for girls or young women with a light to medium flow who have some sensitivity in the vagina or bladder.
  • an M-size turquoise cup for girls or young women with a fairly heavy flow who have never given birth.
  • an S-size pink cup for women who have already given birth vaginally but have a light flow.

Don’t forget, it’s practical to have two cups so you can alternate and not get stuck. Also combine a cup with period panties in your menstrual routine. These are especially ideal at night.

What precautions should you take when using a menstrual cup?

Before using a cup, you need to follow a few important precautions. Nothing complicated. Hygiene, techniques, habits – just follow the steps:
  • You need to know how to clean and sterilize it: Sterilizing your cup: 2 ways to sterilize your cup
  • You should not wear a menstrual cup for more than 6 hours. Prolonged use of intravaginal sanitary protection can, in some cases, cause toxic shock syndrome (TSS). This is a rare infectious disease that can occur in women who carry the S. aureus bacteria that produce TSST-1 toxins. So we don’t recommend using a cup at night.
