Can postpartum underwear absorb lochia?
While our most absorbent Louloucup panties are extremely effective, we recommend using disposable postpartum pantiesin the first few days after your baby is born. The discharge can be so heavy and impressive (placental residue, clots, etc.) that this type of disposable intimate protection is the best option. However, as soon as your flow starts to decrease, you can absolutely switch to period underwear or postpartum underwear. It’s softer, more pleasant, and more comfortable.

After giving birth, my discharge is heavy and very irregular. Is period underwear a good solution?
Yes, absolutely. Period panties offer safe, optimal protection and great comfort. That’s one less thing for a new mom to worry about. You’ll want to choose period panties designed for very heavy flow to best handle postpartum bleeding: both the initial postpartum bleeding and lochia. In the days right after giving birth, using disposable panties or maternity pads is also very helpful.
What sizes are available for your postpartum period panties?
Our selection of very heavy flow period panties is available from size XS to 5XL.
Check out our best-seller, the iconic Clara model—a beautiful high-waisted panty in 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, and 5XL. The same goes for the Liv panty, a seamless, invisible panty for very heavy flow, and the Mathilde panty, a wide black period panty with a very large absorbent area.
How do you care for postpartum underwear?
Just like with your period underwear, postpartum panties should be rinsed in cold water. You need to flush out the accumulated flow from the absorbent layer. Once well rinsed, put your panties in with the rest of your laundry in the washing machine. Choose a short cycle at 30°C and use a gentle detergent. To dry, air-dry only—avoid any heat source (no tumble dryer, no iron, no hair dryer!) Too much heat will damage the absorbent layer’s effectiveness.
What should I do with my absorbent underwear once my postpartum period is over?
You can absolutely use your postpartum underwear during your period once your postpartum bleeding has ended. These panties are, above all, period underwear. They perfectly absorb menstrual flow and are a great addition to a sustainable and responsible period routine.
Is there a shipping fee for my postpartum underwear?
At Louloucup, shipping is always free !
How much does a Louloucup postpartum panty cost?
All our Louloucup products (panties, cups, and swimwear) are the same price: €28.90. A fair and affordable price. The only exceptions are two specific models, the Clara and Mathilde panties, which are priced at €33.90. Since their absorbent lining is doubled, their manufacturing cost is higher.
Are postpartum panties eligible for the discounted panties bundle?
Of course! At Louloucup, the more you add to your cart, the more you save! With 5 pairs of underwear in your cart, you save €30 off your total order. Don’t forget about promo codes and other discounts, which are offered very often and regularly.
Why choose postpartum underwear?
For its comfort, softness, reliability, and undeniable advantage: this lingerie is reusable, durable, washable, and more eco-friendly. Of course, postpartum underwear can easily be combined with disposable postpartum panties and maternity pads. It’s up to you to find your balance and what’s most comfortable and practical for you!
Which absorbency should I choose?
At Louloucup, our period panties are categorized by their absorbency. The membrane sewn inside the panty is more or less absorbent. We have the following: period thongs with a fairly low absorbency equivalent to 1 or 2 tampons. The period thong is perfect for managing a naturally light flow, mild irregular spotting, discharge outside your period (spotting), or vaginal discharge during ovulation, for example. We also offer a range of period panties for normal or medium flow, as well as a range for heavy and very heavy (hemorrhagic) flow.
In the weeks following childbirth, due to hormonal changes, you may experience significant discharge of various types, ranging from thick to watery. In short, we strongly recommend opting for maximum absorbency to ensure you’re fully protected.
